Flight Review Prerequisites – A private pilot’s license and a valid medical. The flight review according to the FAA only requires 1 hour of ground instruction and 1 hour of flight instruction for the sign off. This would be fine if you have been flying consistently since your last flight review. And by consistently I mean once or twice a week. If this is not the case expect more time in the air and the ground for the sign off. If it has been several years a good rule of thumb would be at least one hour of flight and ground instruction per year you have been gone. For example if you have not flown in 5 years, expect 5 hours of ground instruction and 5 hours of flight instruction. That being said, this the cost for the minimum time. 1 hour of flight time in a 152 - $79 1 hour of flight instruction - $50 1 hour of ground instruction - $50 TOTAL - $179 |
